Happy Hire was established in 2017 by bicycle enthusiast Michael to cater for the popular activity of bike riding on the Gold Coast. Michael has a long history owning and working in bicycle retail stores and bike hire businesses back in his native New Zealand.
Arriving in Australia in 2008, Michael worked in other bike hire shops where he used his knowledge and love of cycling to build a loyal customer base. Rather than continue to help build other people’s businesses, Michael decide to set up shop from scratch in the tourist mecca of Surfers Paradise with brand new bikes and equipment.
Michael has selected and purchased over 70 electric bikes and scooters, so when you hire from Happy Hire, you’ll be getting new equipment that we keep in excellent condition. Our shop does expert repairs and servicing on all types of bikes, which means we can maintain all our equipment in-house.
We also have bikes for sale, to make sure our fleet of electric bikes and scooters are always clean, well maintained and in good working order, we replace our bikes before they wear out. This means our hire bikes are always in new condition and ride well and means you can pick up a great deal by purchasing a regularly serviced ex-hire bike.
Happy Hire has been a popular choice for bike hire on the Gold Coast since our doors opened. Michael was careful to choose staff that were as passionate and as knowledgeable as he was about cycling. For your convenience, we are open 7-days a week from 9am – Midnight.
Michael is committed to providing the best service and bike hire on the Gold Coast. We have bikes suitable for all ages and all fitness levels. A driver licence is only required for the hire of our 50cc petrol scooters. Our electric scooter hire and electric bike hire do NOT require the rider to have a driver licence.
We’ll make sure you’re well looked after and we’ll even supply you with a helmet, maps, a lock, and even a basket for you bike if you’d like one.
Happy Hire owner Michael is an ex international competitive cyclist and was even part of the official New Zealand cycling team. He has competed in the Hawaiian Ironman triathlon 4 times and is still an active competitor in Ironman competitions.
